The popular Japanese subcompact takes its name from the amalgamation of two terms, one Greek, the other German. The first is Charis, goddess of Greek mythology and symbol of beauty and elegance, and the second is Ya, which means « yes » in German, certainly recalling the warm welcome this city car received upon its arrival on the European market.
